South Australian triathlete Charlotte Derbyshire and New Zealander, Dylan McCullough have wrapped up the Scody 2016 Australian Youth Triathlon Series after emphatic wins at the 2016 Australian Youth Triathlon Championships in Tasmania last weekend.
Derbyshire and McCullough made it a clean sweep, three wins from three races. Just 15-years-old they have dominated the series by winning race 1 in Canberra, ACT in December, backing up for race 2 on the Gold Coast in January and securing wins at Devonport last weekend which offered double points.
Derbyshire hails from the beachside suburb of Brighton in Adelaide and is coached by Grant Melzer. She scored 33 points in the series where Youth athletes best 2 scores from 3 races count towards the overall point score total. Keely Whittaker from Parkwood on the Gold Coast took second place with 26 points, and Western Australian athlete Abby Ouwendyk took 3rd with 25 points.
Not to be out done, in the ITU Youth males series Dylan McCullough from Pakuranga in Auckland equalled Derbyshire's performance with maximum points. Lachlan Sosinski from Burleigh Waters on the Gold Coast was 2nd with 26 points after winning the 2016 Australian Youth Triathlon Championship title in Devonport. Derbyshire's training partner Samuel Tierney from West Lakes in Adelaide took 3rd with 25 points. The series winners will be acknowledged at the Triathlon Australia Celebration of Champions Annual Awards Dinner on the Gold Coast on Sunday 10th April following the ITU Gold Coast World Triathlon Series.

Meanwhile in the 2016 SCODY Australian Junior Triathlon Series newly crowned Australian Junior Triathlon Champions, Sophie Malowiecki and Matthew Hauser lead the point score after three races with the OTU Oceania Junior Triathlon Championships in Gisborne, New Zealand the last race in the series. The race for 2016 ITU Junior females series podium positions is wide open with Brittany Dutton in 2nd on 30 points and then a three way tie for third with Katinka von Elsner-Wellsteed, Kira Hedgeland and Ellie Hoitink on 29 points. Jessica Claxton is just 1 point behind on 22 points.
In the ITU Junior males Kye Wylde and Liam McCoach hold down equal 2nd place on 29 points with race 2 winner Jack Van Stekelenburg in 4th on 28 points. Junior athletes best 3 scores from 4 races count towards the series with Australian Junior Triathlon Championships (race 3) and OTU Oceania Junior Triathlon Championships (race 4) worth double points.
