Triathlon Australia Membership Officer

Position Title: Membership Officer
Reporting to: National Participation Manager
Version Date: December 2019
Location: Gold Coast

Primary Job Purpose: To provide membership services including customer service, member enquiries, renewals, administration of the membership system and assistance with the promotion of Membership. To also provide some administrative support across the organisation including support for marketing and communications.

Key Responsibilities and Activities:

1. Member Services                                                                                                  70%

  • The provision of member services including:
  • Customer Service including answering, resolving and/or appropriately directing all telephone calls and email enquiries to the office (shared responsibility)
  • Be the primary contact for membership enquiries
  • Administration of the membership system
  • Running membership reports and managing membership data in Excel
  • Reporting of key statistics, analysis of data, and identification of trends for the CEO, Board, and National Leadership Team
  • Coordinate the annual membership renewals campaign
  • Assist with the promotion of membership
  • Assist the CEO/COO with the setting of membership policy and guidelines
  • Provision of Staff. Club and member membership manuals
  • Coordinate staff, club membership system training
  • Coordinate Membership packages
  • Coordinate annual club affiliation process
  • Other membership services


2. Communication / Website                                                                                  15%

Working with the National Manager, Communication and Projects, the delivery of communication and website services by:

  • Providing day to day maintenance and updates of Triathlon Australia website
  • Assist with more general membership communications and campaigns
  • Drive membership communications through active platform and direct email/SMS 


3. Organisational Support and Additional Tasks                                                     15%
The provision of general administration for Triathlon Australia as required including:

  • Administrative support for the CEO and the National Manager Corporate services
  • An active role in SharePoint intranet administration.
  • Day to day administration of the office including office supplies, storage, mail, couriers, room bookings, meeting catering and other as required
  • Assist with the annual Celebration of Champions awards dinner, program launches, and other events as required
  • Assist Triathlon Australia staff on large projects on an ad hoc basis

Key Relationships: 

In relation to Membership responsibilities, co-ordination of key stakeholder relationships including but not limited to:

  • State membership staff
  • Active Network (membership system provider)
  • Membership Review Committee
  • National Leadership Team


  • Some interstate travel required.
  • Some weekend and evening work is required.

Experience and Qualifications

  • Have previously worked with a membership based platform
  • An affinity with sport and/or experience in a not-for-profit organisation
  • 1-2 years’ experience in a customer service environment
  • Previous experience running reports, analysing and managing data in Excel
  • Experience in membership services is highly desirable, but not essential
  • Experience in a marketing environment is desirable, but not essential
