TRIATHLON PREVIEW: WHAT'S ON THIS WEEKEND

Challenge Gold Coast 24 August 
A pristine swim in Currumbin Creek, an undulating ride through the Currumbin and Tallebudgera Valleys and then a run with stunning views along Currumbin Creek, Currumbin Beach and Tugun Beach. This event offers a challenging course in an environment that is world class.

The race to be held at the South Eastern end of the Gold Coast comprises a 1.9km swim in Currumbin Creek, a 90km one-lap cycle over the undulating terrain through Currumbin and Tallebudgera Valleys and a 21km two-lap run through Currumbin and Tugun Beach.

MetaMan Bintan Triathlon, Singapore 24th August

Nearly 500 participants from all over the world will compete this weekend, with large contingents representing Singapore, Indonesia, Australia and New Zealand. The pre-race expo, dinner and course familiarisation activities start on Friday before the competition kicks off on Sunday.

The event features half and full-distance ironman triathlons. MetaMan Full comprises a 3.8-km swim, 180-km bike ride and a 42.2km marathon run, while MetaMan Half features a 1.9-km swim, 90-km bike ride and a 21.1-km run.

WTS Stockholm, Sweden, 23rd August

The second last leg of the ITU WTS Series takes place in Stockholm over the Sprint Distance format and will be the perfect hit out before next weekend’s Grand Final in Edmonton.

Stockholm will be an important fixture in determining the final top-10 on the WTS rankings, and with Gomez and Jorgensen so far ahead, look for several contenders to throw caution to the wind and gun for a victory

IRONMAN Louisville, USA 24th August 

Since it was first held in Louisville, Kentucky in 2007, this race quickly became a signature event for the charm-filled city. This quintessential race provides athletes and spectators with numerous entertainment, dining and recreational opportunities, and is the last qualifying event for the IRONMAN World Championship in Kailua-Kona, HI.

Capital Winterfest duathlon, act 24th august

 
Race 4 of the National Qualifying Race will be held this weekend in the heart of Australia in the ACT. Stromolo Forrest will host the course which is sure to be a flat, fast race. This acts as qualifying race 4 for the 2015 ITU World Duathlon Championships to be hosted in Adelaide, Australia.
