Invitation to Edmonton 2014

Tim Wilson is the Executive Director of Alberta Triathlon Association and invites all Australian athletes to compete in Edmonton in the 2014 ITU Triathlon World Championships.

How do I qualify for the 2014 Australia Age Group Team?

1. Athletes will compete in the nominated selection events around Australia during the 2013 to 2014 season.

2. Results from each selection event will be converted to age as at 31st December 2014 and selection points allocated in priority order according to the official race finishing time.

3. A selection points table will be published on the Triathlon Australia website ranking athletes regarding their selection points.

4. The Triathlon Australia Age Group Committee will make selections in priority order according to the highest accumulated selections points based on the best three results in the selection events.

What do I need to do to be eligible for selection onto the 2014 Australian Age Group Team?

1. At the time of making your 2014 team application hold a current Triathlon Australia Membership.

2. Not be the holder of a Triathlon Australia Professional License during the financial year in which the selection events conducted.

3. Notify Triathlon Australia of your expression of interest for selection by applying on-line through the Triathlon Australia Expression of Interest form. For the avoidance of doubt, this includes: Australian athletes residing overseas who wish to be considered for selection and athletes who wish to be considered for discretionary selection. Please note NO LATE APPLICATIONS will be accepted under any circumstance.

Can I apply for more than one distance?

Yes you can apply for as many different distances as you would like. Please note you will need to place a separate application through the on-line system for each distance you would like to compete in.

When placing multiple applications through the online system please note:

Once you have completed your first application and you would like to place your second application in through the online system you will need to follow the below instructions:

1. Click the distance you would like to complete the application for.

2. Place your email into the identified area

3. Do not place your password into the system, please leave this area blank only for your SECOND and subsequent applications.

4. Click new registration

5. Complete the application

6. If you are completing a third and 4th application please follow the above directions again.

Please note you may place an application in for both the sprint distance and the standard distance events which will be held in Edmonton, Canada. The race organisers have announced the provisional event schedule and athletes will be able to race both the sprint distance and standard distance races in Canada.

How much does the application cost?

Please note athletes are not charged for 2014 Australian age group team world championships applications.

The 2014 Australian age group team is fully self-funded.

The 2014 team is fully self-funded. Costs to be met by each team member include but are not limited to:

  • Athlete services contribution which includes: race entry fee, team management fee and international travel insurance
  • Australian team uniform
  • Travel and accommodation

Important points

  • You MUST be a current Triathlon Australia competing member by the Thursday midnight preceding the selection race. Please note selection points will not be allocated under any circumstance to athletes who are not a current member by this time.
  • You MUST complete an individual on-line application for each distance which you would like to be selected for. Please note no late applications will be taken under any circumstance.
  • You MUST supply Triathlon Australia at least 8 weeks prior to the date of the 2014 ITU World Championships a copy of a current Australian passport or a copy of an Australian birth certificate and or evidence of Australian citizenship.
  • Please note when the selection points are calculated the age of the athletes will be calculated as of the 31st of December 2014 (as per ITU Competition Rules). Please note an athlete who competes in a lower age group on race day may be moved into a higher age group and awarded selection points in the higher age group due to the athlete‚Äôs date of birth.
