Swimming Conduct

In an emergency, a competitor should raise an arm overhead and call for assistance. Once assistance is rendered beyond the provision of an object on which to rest, the competitor must withdraw from the event.

Professional Licences
All Australian athletes wishing to compete in Triathlon, Duathlon or Aquathlon Events with an overall Prize purse (male & female combined) above $5,000 (Australian) or greater will require a Professional Licence. There are 4 levels of Professional Licence in 2011/2012:
- Category 1. Professional Licence – Open
- Category 2. Professional Licence – International Long Course and Duathlon
- Category 3. Professional Licence – Domestic Long Course and Duathlon
- Category 4. Interim U23 Development Licence
To be eligible for Professional Licence athletes must be turning 18 in 2011. "Special Circumstances" will be evaluated by the High Performance Team. If during the course of the year you upgrade your licence you only pay the differential between your original licence and the new licence.
How to apply for a 2011/2012 Professional licenCe

- Apply online for your membership. Please tick professional licence as the category you would like to join Triathlon Australia for the 2011/2012 season.
- If you have not been granted a professional licence previously please email Alex Fehon on Alexandra.fehon@triathlon.org.au. You will need to include the supporting documentation outlined in the 2011/2012 Professional Licence Policy.
- Please note all professional licences are pending. Triathlon Australia will either accept or deny your application and notify you by email.
Category 1 Professional Licence – OPEN
This is for all Australian Athletes wishing to compete as a professional athlete in the National Championships, Regional Championships, ITU Points Races, World Championships, World Cups, Continental Cups and any other Triathlon, Duathlon or multisport event with prize money in excess of $5000.
Category 1 Professional Licence holders cannot race as Age-Groupers in any triathlon event which has a professional or open category within the same year.
Category 2 Professional Licences International Long Course and Duathlon
Long Course and Duathlon Licences will be for all Australian Athletes wishing to compete as a professional in any Australian or International Long Course and/or Duathlon event with prize money in excess of $5,000 and will allow both Australian Long Course specialists and Duathletes to race as Age-Groupers or in Open Waves in Non-Drafting triathlon races in Australia and Internationally.
Category 3 Professional Licences Domestic Long Course and Duathlon
This is for all Australian Athletes wishing to compete as a Professional in any Australian Long Course or Duathlon events with prize money in excess of $5,000 (male & female combined) in AUSTRALIA ONLY and will allow Australian Long Course and Duathlete specialists to race as Age-Groupers in Non-Drafting triathlon races.
This license is valid in Australia ONLY. This license does NOT include International Medical & Travel Insurance
Category 4 Professional Licences International Interim Under 23 Development License
This is for all Australian U23 athletes wishing to compete as a professional in OVERSEAS races such as ITU Continental Cups and any other Triathlon, Duathlon or multisport event with prize money in excess of $5,000 (male and female combined).
Category 4 Interim Under 23 Development License holders cannot race as Age-Groupers in any triathlon event which has a professional or open category within the same period.
