We are pleased to announce our National Calendar of events for the 2012-2013 membership season. Our National Calendar is made up of four National Qualifying Series, our Championship Title races, our National Premier Series, and our National Junior Series. Races will be held across Australia over the next 12 months.
The National Qualifying Series races are the bedrock of our calendar. Each of the four Series is comprised of up to 8 races across Australia which carry points towards selection for the 2013 ITU Age Group World Championships teams for Duathlon, Sprint Distance, Olympic Distance and Long Distance. These races represent your chance to win points to secure a place on the Australian ‘Green & Gold’ teams travelling to France, Spain and London next year.

As part of our partnership arrangement with each event organiser, we have arranged for our annual members to have access to a priority entry period. This arrangement is in place for most of the events featured in our National Calendar. For races which have already opened for entries, the race organisers have agreed to hold some places to be released specifically to our members.
Further details of these priority entry periods will be updated on our website and through Member’s newsflashes.
You will notice that the ITU World Triathlon Series Sydney race no longer forms part of our National Calendar. Despite the active involvement and advocacy of the International Triathlon Union and Triathlon Australia, we were unable to convince our principal funding body, the NSW Government, that the Sydney event would provide them with the economic impact that they required in return for their substantial investment. We would like to acknowledge the very significant financial and practical support received from the NSW Government through Destination NSW to enable this remarkable elite and age group race to be staged against a backdrop of the icons of Sydney. Following a review of the race outcomes over the previous three years, and the impact of the race on the city, it was considered by Destination NSW that the logistical complexities and costs of organising a triathlon in the CBD of Sydney were not sustainable. We trust that those of you who participated in the event will remember and value the unique experience of racing in the heart of Sydney.
In additional to our National Calendar, all other sanctioned triathlon, duathlon and aquathlon races can be found on-line on the race calendar available on our home page. More information about our National Calendar can be found in the Events section of our website.
