The camp was a chance to bring 3 states together, Victoria, South Australia and Tasmania.
49 athletes and 16 coaches spent 5.5 days plus a further 12 associate athletes in for the Wednesday launched themselves into the new season.
- The camp provided an elite athlete environment by giving the tools needed to progress their understanding and practical skills to become a professional athlete
- It gave quality information from quality presenters
- It developed coach's that have a genuine interest in the junior space and provided hours of training for coaches getting their next accreditation
- The camp provided data on athletes to build their profiles need for TA profiling.
Along with the impressive facilities of Toorak College the athletes got to experience PARC swimming centre and the Mornington Peninsula's best cycling roads.
In summary the camp was a great success with the Southern Stars concept being effective in creating a direction for southern states to feel like they have a voice and direction together to create a positive, inclusive and competitive environment.
The urgency to continually improve will drive the program to support the athletes and coaches in line with our vision. It will be exciting to see what we can develop in the short and long term off the back of this camp.
