Triathlon ACT is a not for profit organization, created as the peak body for triathlon, duathlon, aquathon and multisport events in the ACT. As one of the 8 states/territories belonging to Triathlon Australia, TACT provides participation, sport development, education and performance programs and events.
Triathlon ACT is family focused and is proud to be a part of the most inclusive sport. Triathlon is one of the only sports which caters for young children, 80 year old masters athletes, para triathletes, novice participants and elite athletes together during training and competition day.
Triathlon ACT has seen a 60% growth in membership and a 23% growth in participation during the past year, as a result on focusing on reducing entry barriers, developing inclusive programs, partnering with charities focused on disadvantaged children, and creating fun, exciting, engaging and entertaining events. Triathlon ACT is predicting a record numbers of participation in 2015-2016 season due to new events and creating an atmosphere of inclusivity.
Triathlon ACT has been working closely with Triathlon Australia to develop new junior triathlon programs to introduce children to the sport of triathlon while reducing barriers to entry. The TRYschools is a new program commencing in 2015 which provides an enjoyable entry level introduction to the sport for primary school children. It feeds in nicely to the TRYstars program which focuses on developing the basic skills of triathlon and concludes with a participation event, designed for achieving a personal challenge in a non-threatening environment. TRYclubs will be launched in 2016 providing a connection between schools and the Junior development program. It ensures seamless pathway options for the juniors.
Our 8 clubs are the lifeblood of the organisation, creating social, friendly, community and inclusive environments for athletes of all ages and abilities. The Novice program is one of the best in the world. The program combines introductory skills sessions, progressive training programs, social events, education seminars and a wonderful environment to meet new people.
Athletes, coaches, officials, administrators and volunteers have shown tremendous success, including representing Australia at the Olympic Games.
Our aim is to provide triathlon programs and events, with a family focused, community driven and inclusive environment. We provide opportunities for people to make a difference and achieve a personal challenge.
