After careful consideration and consultation with various authorities, the 2018 ACT Aquathlon Championships on Wednesday 28th February has unfortunately been cancelled.
Due to the unforeseen circumstances of a weather bomb hitting Canberra on Sunday morning, there is considerable damage to the race site swim exit/entry area, debri floating through the swim course, quite a lot of pollution and foreign objects in the water, and the water quality has been compromised.
Athlete and volunteer health and safety is our number one priority. We took a number of measures to find a solution on Wednesday or postponing to a future date, but unfortunately we were unable to find a suitable solution.
For those athletes who were aiming to qualify for the Triathlon Australia Age Group Aquathlon ITU World Championship team, please refer to the selection policy on the Triathlon Australia website and feel free to contact Alex Fehon at Triathlon Australia.
Points towards the 2017-18 Triathlon ACT Pointscore will be based on your performances at the first 3 aquathlons of the series.
Details of refunds to participants who registered for the event will be provided by the end of this week.
For those travelling from inter-state we are sorry for the inconvenience caused.
If you have any questions please don't hesitate to contact Craig Johns at firstname.lastname@example.org or 0415 675 939.
We look forward to seeing many of you at the Proximity Corporate & Community Triathlon this weekend. As you maybe aware this event has been turned into a duathlon due to the lake being closed because of Blue-Green Algae and also the weather bomb affecting water quality.
