It has been more than 2 decades since Canberra last reached such lofty heights with a record 2,400 triathletes competing this weekend at the Proximity Canberra Triathlon Festival and Sanitarium Weet-Bix Kids TRYathlon events.
With 4 sold out years of the Sanitarium Weet-Bix Kids TRYathlon event at the Australian Institute of Sport, we have increased capacity in 2019 with a record 1617 school children registered to swim, cycle and run around the home of Australian sporting legends.
We continue the inclusion wave for children who overcome challenges such as cerebral palsy and muscular dystrophy, and also a swim-run event proving anything is possible.
It is exciting to have such a diverse range of people participating over the weekend from the children on Sunday to weekend warriors, first-time corporates, age group triathletes, Paratriathletes chasing the Tokyo Olympic Dream, Australia’s top ranked juniors and many people who are using triathlon to overcome health and wellbeing challenges at the Proximity Corporate & Community Triathlon on Saturday at Rond Terrace.
With Sport Australia’s “move it AUS” and “Find Your 30”campaigns, triathlon is proving there is something for everyone no matter what ability, age, level of fear or goal.
