Sport Development Manager
Full Time/Permanent Position
Commencing April 2019
Reporting to the Executive Director, the Sport Development Manager will ensure the Triathlon ACT events, programs, education courses and member services are administered and managed in a professional and efficient manner as well as providing support to other administrative activities within the organisation.
This exciting role ensures that all pathway, club development, coach development and accreditation, technical development and accreditation, schools, and novice programs are planned, delivered and reviewed in professional manner as per the KPI’s set by Triathlon ACT and Triathlon Australia Whole of Sport (WOS) National Leadership Team, for the ACT region.
The Sport Development Manager is responsible for developing event plans, creating and monitoring event budgets, seeking approvals from relevant stakeholders, coordinating logistics in the lead-up to events, and managing event staff and operations at each event Triathlon ACT organises.
As part of this role, the Sport Development Manager will regularly be in contact with other triathlon event organisers who operate in the ACT. The relationship involves managing a sustainable event calendar for ACT triathletes and maintaining adequate service provision to external event organisers, who have event licence agreements with Triathlon ACT.
As part of this role, the Sport Development Manager will ensure the Triathlon ACT office is administered in a professional and efficient manner as well as providing administrative support across the organisation. Often acting as the “first point of contact” with members and key stakeholders, this diverse role has a key focus on membership services and the day-to-day finance of Triathlon ACT.
In keeping with TACT’s commitment to its membership and participants, this position requires an individual who takes an inordinate amount of pride in their work and is willing to go “above and beyond” to ensure the needs of members and colleagues are met and are provided with the best possible service.
To be considered for this role you must have a minimum of 1-2 years’ experience in an event or sport operations focussed role (ideally within a not-for-profit, sport or membership based organisation). You will have a demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities and activities at once whilst maintaining a high level of attention to detail.
High level communication skills (both written and oral) are essential in this role, as is the ability to liaise with state, regional and club officials, volunteers, participants and parents as well as external bodies and personnel such as the ACT Government and media representatives. Also required is well-developed computer skills and IT literacy, ideally with an understanding of participation management and the processes required to ensure data integrity.

Triathlon ACT is the official State and Territory Triathlon Organisation (STTA) responsible for the management and delivery of the sports of triathlon, duathlon, aquathlon and multisport within the ACT region. Triathlon ACT (TACT) is part of 8 affiliated State and Territory Triathlon Associations. Known as the STTAs, they are the official members of the national body, Triathlon Australia. A remuneration package of $50,000-60,000 exclusive of superannuation will be available to the successful candidate, negotiable depending upon skill level and experiences. At the time of applying, candidates are invited to indicate their current salary and salary expectations.
Applicants must be legally entitled to work in Australia, have at least a relevant tertiary degree, and current Drivers Licence, Working With Vulnerable People card, First Aid and CPR qualifications.
Final interviews and the appointment of the Sport Development Manager are scheduled for March 12-15th, 2019. The successful candidate would be expected to commence duties in April 2019, mindful of notice periods and general availability.
