The end of season for many means a time to reflect on last season, reset the goals for next season and start to plan which events are the focus for the next season!
The good news is that season 2022/2023 is shaping up to be COVID free with regional and interstate travel well and truly back on the cards.
Triathlon Australia / NSW members will once again have access to another bumper calendar of events across this great state of ours.
To help guide your decision on which events to prioritise, we are excited to provide you the information on the upcoming Individual NSW State Championships Events.
For those who raced and etched their name into eternal glory as a NSW State Champs, you can CLICK HERE to view our Hall of Fame from season 2021 / 2022.
And remember, you must be a fully financial member of Triathlon NSW / Triathlon Australia in season 2022/2023 to be considered for the State Championships, so be sure to update your annual membership with Triathlon NSW and your club before you enter the event.
Without further ado, here are your 2022/2023 NSW State Championship events:
Standard Distance Duathlon State Championships (10KM RUN, 40M BIKE, 5KM RUN)
Elite Energy’s Goulburn Duathlon
Date – Saturday 16th July 2022
Within easy reach of Sydney, Goulburn’s motto is “country life with a city heartbeat”. The town’s broad, classic-country-town main street features colonial architecture and great shopping, but beyond, the region exudes country charm, with historic towns and villages ripe to be explored, and stunning rural landscapes to get lost in.
The event also offers a Sprint and Super Sprint but be sure to register into that Standard distance to put yourself in the running to win this Individual State Championships event.

Cross Tri Standard State Championships (1KM SWIM, 29KM MTB, 8KM TRAIL RUN)
In2Adventures TREX (Port Stephens).
Date - Saturday 17th September 2022
The addition of Cross Tri to NSW's program is something that has everyone licking their lips with excitement.
TreX Cross Triathlon Port Stephens features a sea swim in beautiful Fingal Bay followed by a Euro-style mountain bike course in Tomaree national park and a spectacular trail run along scenic coastal paths, where whales and dolphins abound.

Long Course State Championships (200M SWIM, 60KM BIKE, 15KM RUN)
H-Event’s Maitland Triathlon
Date – Sunday 9th October 2022
A bustling port in colonial times, Morpeth is an historic town on the banks of the Hunter River. Take a boat from Newcastle, sample local wines and browse boutique shops in heritage 19th-century buildings, including the bakehouse where the Arnott’s family biscuit dynasty began.
H-Events deliver this wonderful event after its successful return a few seasons back.
While the event also has a Standard and a Sprint distance, be sure to register into that Long Course distance to put yourself in the running to win this Individual State Championships event.

Tri Callala Festival hosted by Elite Energy
Date – Saturday 17th December
More Info: The IGA Callala Triathlon Festival is much loved by those who know this as the 'boutique triathlon'. Set on the northern shores of Jervis Bay, Callala Beach is a pristine location with a laid back field.
Aquabike (Standard) State Championships (1.5KM SWIM, 40KM BIKE)

More Info: No, it's not a watercraft with really big wheels - it's the latest event in triathlon circles to be added to the ITU World Championships. With the addition of Aquabike to Callala Triathlon Festival you can now be part of the action.
Aquathlon State Championships (1KM SWIM, 5KM RUN)
Wollongong (Canberra Multisport Events)
Date – Sunday 5th March
Wollongong is a coastal city in Australia, south of Sydney along the Grand Pacific Drive. Surfing beaches and rock pools line the coastline. Trails encircle the forests and rocky cliffs of Mt. Keira in the Illawarra mountain range, which frames the city. To the north, hang gliders launch from Bald Hill.
In 2023, Canberra Multisport Events (CME) are venturing beyond the nation’s capital borders and are expanding to deliver an Aquathlon into Wollongong. And this wonderful location will feature the newest Multisport event in NSW and double up as the NSW Individual Aquathlon State Championships.

Sprint State Championships (750KM SWIM, 20KM RIDE, 5KM RUN)
Byron Bay Triathlon Festival
Date - TBC
In 2022, NXsports have bold plans to expand this event into a four-day festival, featuring competition, events, and lots of great participation opportunities. There will be a significant focus on inclusivity and equality, utilising Multisport events to create an exciting new series of competitive and participation activities for locals and guests into Byron Bay.
Triathlon NSW is proud to confirm that the NSW Sprint State Championships event will be included into the calendar of events, providing even more reasons for the ultimate ‘Tri-cation’ Dates and info are to come, but this is going to be a wonderful trip away, and don’t we all need a holiday?
