Book your school in for a Triathlon NSW workshop

Triathlon NSW Development Officer Sam Douglas recently completed a skills workshop for 17 students at William Clarke College in the north-west of Sydney, in the lead up to the Hills Zone Triathlon.

Many of the students were preparing for their first triathlon and the workshop prepared them greatly for the event as well as sparked an interest in our great sport for those not yet exposed to triathlon.

The workshop allowed students who hadn't competed in a triathlon before to learn the skills necessary to compete and whilst students that had competed before were able to practice skills they may have never tried before.

Sam’s workshop ranged from going through the skills needed to get off and on your bike and how important a fast transition is, to practicing running drills with the correct technique.

The workshop finished with a mini-race and a wrap up from the local Triathlon club, Hills, to allow students the opportunity to go and try out their new skills with their local club.

William Clarke are officially the first school to run a Triathlon NSW Workshop and it is exciting to see more schools in NSW accepting the sport of Triathlon as something fun, healthy and enjoyable for their students to train and participate in.

With the NSW All Schools carnival around the corner on the 28th of February, if you would like Sam to come out to your school to conduct a similar triathlon skills session, then please send an email to Sam.Douglas@nsw.triathlon.org.au<
