Change is coming in new mixed format racing for Age Group athletes

Triathlon is changing as you know it. This amazing new concept is NOT the average swim, bike, run. This September 30 at the Sydney International Regatta Centre, Event Management Company Elite Energy is set to pioneer a multi race, mixed format event for age groupers.

The main event (X3) will comprise of three stages with each stage starting on the hour. SBRX3 turns the traditional premise of triathlon on its head mixing up the order of multiple shortened swim, bike and run legs.

The event provides the opportunity for most abilities offering the chance to race one, two or three of the three stages. (X1 for Super Sprint level athletes, X2 for Sprint level athletes & X3 for the Standard and above distance athlete).

“In recent times you may have seen some of the World’s best triathletes racing a similar format and now it’s time for Age Group Athletes to test themselves on something a little bit different from the triathlon norm,” said Elite Energy CEO Mark Emerton.

Elite Energy has outlined the planned format below for each stage. Right at the beginning of the 2018/19 Triathlon Season it provides those in fine form from the ITU Age World Championships two weeks earlier the opportunity to have a good hit out as well as those that want to kick start the new season in style.
