Organisation and club obligations under the Child protection Act

Children's Guardian

Triathlon NSW has today received communications from the Office of the Children’s Guardian regarding our obligations as a sporting organisation and yours as a sporting club under the NSW Child Protection Act.

If your Club is providing coaching services or other child specific activities, even with volunteers, you must ensure that your club is adhering to the requirements of this important legislation.

Employers and organisations must register and verify child-related workers online

Employers must verify a person’s Working with Children Check (WWCC) application or clearance online before engaging that person to work in child-related activities. Sighting the WWC number is not sufficient verification.

Employers, Organisations must verify online the WWC clearance status of all existing child-related workers. Verification must be done through the Working with Children Check Employer Register.

The below documents aim to assist in ensuring that your club adheres to the required legislation.
