Filipino Fiesta comes to the Regatta Centre

In 2013 the FilOz Triathlon Team came to be.

In the age of technology, the team was initially brought together in the form of a Facebook group - consisting of several triathletes who were connected with the purpose of competing and training together, but who conveniently lived in relative proximity to each other.

2014 marked their first race as a team and in June 2015, FilOz Triathlon Inc became both incorporated and a Triathlon Australia affiliated club. The club consists of a group of passionate triathletes of Filipino or Australian descent based in Australia, and is one of the states most lovable clubs.

In 2022 the happiest triathlon event in Australia, returns.

This Australia Day, the Filipino Fiesta comes to Sydney International Regatta Centre for a day full of Filipino food & culture – and a hint of racing.

“We wanted to represent our country and organise a sport competition run by Filipino. The group aims to inspire others to participate in the sport and showcase Filipinos’ bayanihan in Australia”, says FilOz member Eros Herrera.

And showcase it, it does – the unique and fun Filipino racing atmosphere is backed by a delicious spread of classic Filipino food. While many of our club’s host stress free and inclusive events, the Happy Triathlon is built around food, photos and an “overall light and supportive atmosphere that you can enjoy with family and friends”.

The annual triathlon hosted by FilOz provides races that cater to all ages and ability levels – beginners to elite. The 2022 event sees six events, including two kids’ duathlons and an enticer triathlon.

There’s much to look forward to when it comes to the Happy Triathlon, but the chance to connect with friends and family again is what the club is most excited for.

“The event is bigger and better (than ever before) – FilOz will be bringing the Filipino Fiesta feel this year. It will feel like a part more than a race and participants will be able to experience Filipino culture and food,” says Eros.

Challenge yourself and your friends this Australia Day.

Happy Tri is open to all ages and abilities and offers attendees the opportunity to not only race, but take part in a celebration of Filipino culture and food.
