In 2022, we’re heading back to Forster!

Triathlon NSW, in conjunction with our Race Director Partner Elite Energy, are excited to confirm that registrations are now open for the highly anticipated Triathlon NSW Club Championships, which is scheduled for Saturday 21st May 2022.

And what better way to end the season and send it off with a bang, then a trip up the coast to one of the most loved destinations on the triathlon landscape – the ‘Triconic’ destination of Forster.

May 2021 saw a solid 1,200 athletes off picturesque and spectacular main beach. Check out our recap video and relive the fun we had:

The 2022 event will once again feature the ‘Half Club’ distance, which will ensure that there is a race for all our members.  The Half Club Distance is ideal for those new to the sport, perhaps intimidated by the length of the Club Distance, or those recovering from injury or just a little lacking in fitness.

Just as important as the race itself, and pending COVID-19 restrictions, the after party will return to Club Forster allowing the social element of what we all love about triathlon to shine through once again.

Mark 'Emo' Emerton, CEO of Elite Energy added 'It's been superb to continue working with Mid Coast Council and Triathlon NSW to take the Club Championships back to a venue that is so closely associated with triathlon. It is a wonderful location and loved by the community. We can't wait to see triathletes from across the state, join their clubs and represent with pride'.

The Triathlon NSW Club Championships remains the only race in NSW (and Australia for that matter) which is exclusively for Triathlon Australia Members to race and earn points for their clubs.

Once again, across both the Junior and Adult events, holding a Standard or Premium annual membership of Triathlon NSW is compulsory. The event will again feature a ‘Junior Club Championships’ event, which will allow members of Triathlon Australia and a NSW club to race and earn points for the club.

To add some more spice into the mix, the Half and full Club Distance will feature on the Triathlon NSW - Forager Interclub Leagues for the Sydney Triathlon Premier League, Sydney League 1, South Coast, Hunter, New England and the North Coast series as a DOUBLE POINTS ROUND! If your club can ‘max out’, that’s a whopping 50 points that your club can earn and push yourselves up the leader board of your regional interclub series.

As the community start to get excited about the upcoming 2022 Triathlon NSW Club Champs, we Triathlon NSW Board are excited to confirm the addition of two new ‘waves’.

When the TNSW Board approved the addition of the ½ Club Distance it was to ensure the event was as inclusive as possible.

The addition of the ½ Club allows for those who might be newer to the sport, those who might find the distance of the full club confronting or be returning from injury to race. Despite these challenges, those members can still participate and contribute to their clubs success by earning points.

Coming in 2022, two new divisions for our members to compete in for the ½ Club Distance will be launched:

  1. Teams wave for ½ Club Distance. A teams completion of the ‘Teams’ event will earn one (1) point for their club.
  2. ‘Fun Wave’ for ½ Club Distance.  Any athlete who completes this event will earn one (1) point for their club.

Regarding the ‘Fun Wave’, further guidelines around what is allowed vs not allowed but as a general guide, flippers, snorkels and any flotation device required to make the participant feel comfortable and safe, unless its usage is deemed a safety concern to others in the water will be allowed.

Volunteers will once again be a key component of the event, with points awarded and offered to those representing their clubs.  More info on the points scoring system to come soon.

Registrations are now open so make sure you take advantage of the ‘Early Bird Special. Remember, you must be registering into a club to ensure your points are counted.

Each TNSW Affiliated Club is required to set themselves up in the system, so if you can’t see your club listed, please email us and your local committee to ensure this is done!
