Inspire to Tri - Online Mentoring Sessions kickoff

Following the announcement of Triathlon NSW’ new women’s leadership program, we’re proud to announce that Inspire 2 Tri officially launches tonight with the first of 7 online mentoring sessions. Bringing together coaches from across the state, the online mentoring sessions will deliver the skills and knowledge to assist in leadership positions for females in triathlon.

Tonight, 16 female coaches will take part including 10 brand new coaches coming into the system and 6 Development Coaches. The online mentoring is designed to empower, upskill, and guide both Foundation and Development coaches to progress through the coaching framework and into higher levels. Performance coaches will benefit from an Accessor & Presenter course provided NSW Office of Sport, which will allow them to facilitate and present their own Foundation and Development coaching courses.

The percentage of females in coaching positions declines throughout the coaching pathway stages with females accounting for 52% of Foundation accredited coaches in NSW, while only making up for 26% of accredited coaches at the Performance Level. The initial session will focus on information sharing, understanding & identifying common barriers for women in sport and working on ways to break through them. Future sessions will connect higher level coaches with new coaches, to guide them through topics of leadership, personal growth, culture, and team building – all essential elements that will guide them through their coaching journey.

Spearheaded by Coach Education and Pathway Lead at Triathlon NSW and Triathlon ACT, Robyn Low-Hart said she’s looking forward to the online sessions kicking off.

“I’m excited to be increasing the number of accredited coaches into New South Wales and begin to balance out the gender equity in coaching – particularly when it gets to Performance and High-Performance levels. There’s a great cohort of Performance level coaches with a wealth of knowledge, that will be mentoring throughout the program and guiding the new coaches through the process. It’s very exciting to be able to offer this program”.

Inspire 2 Tri is co-funded by the NSW Office of Sport Her Sport Her Way Grant Program.
