MPTC joins the Triathlon NSW family

Moore Performance Triathlon Club (MPTC) is the latest Not for profit community based Triathlon NSW Affiliated club to join the  list of Sydney East based clubs.

This recently incorporated organisation through NSW Fair trading would be no stranger to those who have been around the sport for a while. It would have been hard to miss their unique pink coloured cycling and running kit making their presences known around Centennial Park or down to La Perouse.

Lead by their president, Danny Moore and supported by a group of dedicated and keen individuals who make up the inaugural committee, this new club truly believes that the sport of triathlon is ideal for anyone that wants to have a crack. The committee are confident that MPTC will be a club that gives everyone (new or experience alike) the opportunity to train with someone who is at your race goals, speed and pace. They are passionate about ensuring no one is left behind and the club is really keen to introduce newbies into the sport. But they also cater to those who are training for long distance events or have goals to go to Kona.

We asked the President of MPTC Danny Moore what the clubs goal was in their first year.

“It about simply to laying down some foundations and growing the club organically. I want to get more people racing everything from short course to long course triathlon and duathlons. We don’t really want to focus on what other clubs are doing, we just want to focus on what we can do for our membership!’.

The club will focus on key events to bring members together and they want to start with everyone’s favourite ‘Big Husky’ but are keen to throw the TNSW Club Champs into the mix as well.

‘Sure why not’ Danny told Triathlon NSW. ‘We’d love to get a solid crew along to the TNSW Club Champs and see the pink of MPTC getting around the course!’.

Danny and the MPTC club members will be known as the ‘Moore Park Bats’ and will join the Forager Sydney Triathlon League 1 in their inaugural season. The club shares Centennial Park (based in Moore Park) as their home base with a number of other Triathlon NSW clubs but chose to be known as the ‘Bats’ due to the Large numbers of fruit bats that roost within the park – some experts feel up to 45,000 in any one year.

For those not current members of TA / TNSW and a club, you can now join MPTC via the Just Go Page: JustGo and take advantage of our 13 months for the price of 12 offer (a membership purchased now will cover you through to 30th June 2022).
