Earlier this season, Triathlon NSW was proud to facilitate a series of women's-only multisport events, delivered by our affiliated clubs with the support of the NSW 'Her Sport Her Way' program.
After the success of this event series - which saw 660 women take part in thirteen events across NSW, the vast majority of whom were first-timers - Triathlon NSW have made the commitment to fund another round of women's only events before the end of this triathlon season.
This program, like the first run of grant funding, is designed to assist our affiliated clubs to reduce barriers to participation and promote inclusive sport experiences for women and girls. We believe this will help our sport to grow and encourage a welcoming and supportive atmosphere for all.
We invite our Triathlon NSW affiliated clubs to apply for a grant of up to $2000 to deliver a women’s specific event that encourages women and girls to try multisport. These events can include triathlons, duathlons, aquathons or female-only waves within existing club events, and should take place before June 30th, 2021.
It is clear from the feedback received after the first series of women's events that club training sessions were an important element to help women feel confident and ready to participate in their first multisport event. As such, clubs can also apply for an extra $500 grant to support the delivery of women's-only training sessions in the lead up to their multisport event. We encourage clubs to liaise with an accredited club coach to plan and deliver these training sessions.
Clubs that received funding for the first round of the events are very welcome to apply for another round of funding.
