NSW contributes second highest number of athletes to Australia’s Age Group Cross Triathlon Team

New South Wales has contributed the second highest amount of athletes to Australia’s Age Group Cross Triathlon Team which will compete at the 2016 ITU Age Group Cross Triathlon World Championships.

The 2016 event will be held in Australia from Thursday the 17th of November until Sunday the 20th November at the Lake Crackenback Resort, New South Wales.

In total, there were 252 athletes selected in Australia’s Age Group Cross Triathlon Team, with NSW contributing 77 of those athletes, or 30.5%.

The only state to eclipse NSW’s representation in the team was Queensland, who contributed 34% of athletes to the team.

Triathlon NSW would like to congratulate all 77 athletes selected in the team. The strength of the representation of NSW athletes is indicative of the wonderful development pathways which have paved the way for these athletes to reach such heights.

Of the 77 athletes from NSW, 51 were male and 26 were female.

“It is wonderful achievement for all athletes to be selected to represent their country and we are very proud of all of our athletes who have made the team,” Triathlon NSW CEO Phil Dally said.

“The fact that over 30% of the Australian squad is made up of athletes from NSW conveys the outstanding work of the coaches and volunteers within our state.”
