Point scoring system for the 2017 Club Championships

Triathlon NSW is pleased to announce the 2017 Triathlon NSW Club Championships will be held on Saturday 18th March 2017 at the stunning new location of Orange in the Central West of NSW.

The main event will commence at 12.00 noon with Check-in and Transition open from 10.00am. The course will consist of a 1 lap - 1km swim, a 1 lap – 30km bike followed by 3 lap – 8km run course.

The presentations and traditional after party will be held at the Orange Ex-Services Club in Anson Street.

In conjunction we will also be hosting for the first time a Junior Club Championships for ages from 10-11 years and 12-14 years. There will also be a participation event for 7-9 year olds.

A point score will operate similar to the all age event with points awarded in each individual year age group, ie, 10yrs, 11yrs, 12yrs, 13yrs, 14yrs.

POINT SCORE

The point system will be very similar to the system last year.

We will recognise both winners of the both City based and Country based Clubs. The overall Champion Club will be awarded to the Club with the highest point-score. Irrespective of which division the Club sits.

We recognise that not all Clubs are of equal size so again will award 3 Divisional Winners based on the size of the Club based on membership of Triathlon NSW / Triathlon ACT. We have again divided the clubs into three categories. The Clubs to compete in each division have been determined based on the number of Club Members as at 12th December 2016.

Triathlon NSW welcomes all Clubs from NSW and the ACT, and all their members, be they Competitors, Volunteers, Marshals, TO’s, that will maintain the tradition of this being the premier Club based event on the NSW Triathlon Club Calendar.

Entries for competitors are now open HERE

Registration for the all-important Volunteers will open in mid-January.

The POINTS SCORE FOR 2017 will be calculated as follows:

PERFORMANCE POINTS

In each age category performance points will be allocated;

  • 1st place 30 points,
  • 2nd place 29 points,
  • 3rd place 28 points
  • down to.
  • 30th place 1 point.
  • Only the first competitor from each Club scoring performance points.
  • The 2nd and subsequent athlete from each Club “blocks” the performance points available to other clubs.

PARTICIPATION POINTS

  • Competitors - 1 point per club member enters and completes the event. (No Cap).
  • Technical Officials – 10 points per TO from a Club – Max 30 points (3 TO’s) Note that to be eligible a TO must have officiated at a minimum of 3 events during the 2016-17 season.
  • Bike Course Marshals – 2 points per Marshall – Max 30 points (15 Marshals)
  • Volunteers – 1 point per volunteer – Max 15 points (15 Volunteers)
  • Section Manager – 10 points per section Manager – Max 20 points (2 Managers)

IMPORTANT NOTE
: an individual member may only earn Participation Points in one category only. Eg. a competitor who will earn a point for completing the event, CANNOT earn points as a Volunteer or Section Manager.

To be eligible to be awarded the overall Club Champion or Divisional Champion a Club must have provide a minimum number of Volunteers which can include Marshalls , TO’s and Section Managers. The minimum number will be based on the Division in which the Club competes and will be:

Division 1: minimum 10 Volunteers

Division 2: minimum 6 Volunteers

Division 3: minimum 3 Volunteers

Triathletes with a Disability:

Triathletes with a disability are very welcome to participate in the Club Champs. At this stage because of the small number, they will participate in their relative Age Group Category. Because of physical constraints, the course is not suitable for those who would compete in a Wheelchair.

The Winning Clubs will be determined by calculating the sum of all the performance points and participation points scored by members of each club.
