Glenn Schwarzel has been re-elected by the Triathlon NSW Board as the President for 2022.  Glenn was first elected to the role of President in 2018 and has held the role since. 

“To represent the Clubs, Members, Volunteers and NSW is an opportunity for which I am truly honoured and I hope we (the TNSW Board) can continue to do our best for everyone,” Glenn said.

2020 and 2021 were arguably the toughest years in the associations 30 odd year history with Covid related restrictions, rolling lockdowns, disruptions and event cancellations.

Irrespective of the challenges, with participation underpinning the triathlon lifestyle our goals remain clear.  We will strive to support clubs, members, invest in the future by creating a framework and structure to allow aspiring NSW juniors to reach their potential, build the profile and capacity of females in triathlon, seek opportunities to grow the value of membership and work closely with commercial Race Directors who remain a critical piece of the triathlon ecosystem in NSW.  It’s a long wish list Glenn said.

Glenn entered the world of Triathlon back in 1991 completing the run leg for a team at the Noosa Triathlon.  He’s since completed 27 Noosa’s as an individual competitor. He’s also competed in several Standard Distance World Championships and two Cross Tri World Championships.

Glenn is the President and a Life Member of the Macarthur Triathlon Club and has been on the Board of Triathlon NSW since 2008. He has also been a member of the Finance and Audit Committee since its inception and assisted Triathlon Australia on various sub-committees.

He was the Race Director for the Sydney Triathlon Series and the All Women’s Triathlon in 2010/11, the Run Manager for the 2016 Rio Para Olympics Australian selection event and has been the Swim Manager for many NSW Club Championship events.

“My involvement in triathlon seems to have grown year on year” Glenn said. In 2010 he successfully obtained a significant grant to design and build a new triathlon facility in Sydney’s South West which has continued to expand with further grants.

Corporately Glenn held various administrative, accounting, auditing and key client manager roles as a Senior Executive Officer in the Australian Public Service. 

Triathlon NSW welcomes Dean Morrison (Tomaree Triathlon Club) to the role of Vice President and thanks Mick Maroney (Cronulla Tri Club) who recently resigned from the TNSW board due to personal and family commitments.
