Lucy Burgmann has been elected by the Board as the new President of Triathlon NSW. “I am very proud to have the opportunity to contribute to our wonderful sport in this way,” she said.
An active Triathlon NSW Board member since she was elected in 2014, Lucy brings to the position corporate governance qualifications as well as many years’ experience as a Director, including on Boards in other sports. She also has experience as a former CEO of a membership-based organisation.
Lucy has a passion for helping organisations to make strategic, creative decisions and to demonstrate accountability to members and stakeholders. “I see my role as helping people to make good decisions. I believe the role of the President is to coordinate the expertise and knowledge of the whole Board for the benefit of the organisation, so that the Board can perform its role of guiding and giving oversight to the organisation, supporting the CEO and staff in their roles, and ensuring accountability to all stakeholders,” she said. Lucy will be working closely with the Triathlon NSW team led by CEO Phil Dally.
Lucy is also the first female President of Triathlon NSW demonstrating the progressive and gender inclusive nature of our sport. She is an amateur triathlete with Balance & UTS club in Sydney, with a strong interest in growing triathlon through encouraging even greater participation rates.
Triathlon NSW would like to thank outgoing President Grant Leslie and Director Karen Malzard. Grant was President for four years and a Board member for six years Karen was instrumental in helping to shape the organisations governance policies. We welcome Natalie Edwards to the Board.
