The Triathlon NSW Tri-Active pilot program has come to an end and the participants have now successfully completed their very first Triathlon.
Triathlon NSW ran the Tri-Active program for four weeks in the lead up to the Super Sprint Triathlon held at Kurnell last weekend. Participants used the skills they learnt during the Tri-Active course to successfully finish their first Triathlon and officially become ‘Triathletes’!
The Tri-Active program has been designed by Triathlon Victoria and was developed for adults who would like to be a bit more active and take on the new challenge of Triathlon, but don't really know how to get started.
Triathlon NSW ran the pilot program in conjunction with Sydney Triathlon Group; a club based in the Eastern Suburbs of Sydney.
The program consisted of two sessions a week, one in a spin studio learning the basics around cycling and the other in the pool. While each session was heavily based around technique, the objective was to ensure participants were having fun and enjoying the sport.
All participants and coaches thoroughly enjoyed the experience and three individuals have since started training with Sydney Triathlon Group and are preparing for their next Triathlon.
Triathlon NSW would welcome expressions of interest from our other Affiliated Clubs who may be interested in running their own Tri-Active Program‘s in the near future. Please get in touch with Triathlon NSW Development Coach Sam Douglas if this is the case.
The program provides a clear benefit for your club and a fantastic entry point for those who are complete newbies into the sport.
As quoted by one of our recent ‘alumni’ from the pilot program:
“The Tri-Active Program is perfect for those who think that a triathlon is out of their reach. I'm very thankful that I took part in the program and I cannot wait to enter my next Triathlon. The program did wonders for my confidence and will no doubt lead to a more healthy and active lifestyle.”
