Exciting new triathlon festival heading to Wyong

Some of the nations’ top triathletes are expected to hit the Central Coast on Saturday for the inaugural Wyong Triathlon Festival.

TriWyong will be race two of an eleven race series organised by Elite Energy and has already exceeded the expectation of event organisers with strong pre-event registrations.
This quaint town located on the NSW’s North Coast is set to reap the benefits of increased visitation and a boost to the regions visitor economy as hundreds of triathletes and their families get set to call the humble town of Budgewoi home for the weekend.

In an exciting coup for the event, and the city,TriWyong will form part of the Wyong Lakes Festival, not only further showcasing the hidden gems of the Wyong Shire, it will give residents, spectators and competitors a chance to enjoy more than 30 events over nine days across five main event hubs throughout the city – there will be something for everyone.

Elite Energy CEO, Mark Emerton believes that Wyong provides an ideal and natural landscape for long distance events and is excited to add the Central Coast to the 2015/16 schedule.

“We’re very grateful for the likes of Wyong Shire Council to ensure we could create this event and are excited to see a number of keen triathletes and fitness enthusiasts attend the event.

“It’s such a great destination and definitely one we’ve had our eye on for many years.”
With competitors ranging in age from seven through to 79, there is an event to suit all ages and abilities. There will be four separate races held across the course of the day including the signature Standard distance; the high speed Sprint; the more welcoming distances in the Enforcer and Enticer and the ever popular Try-a-Tri - a 200m swim, 8km ride and 2km run – a friendly and achievable distance for newcomers to the sport and it’s FREE for first timers.
