Update from the Triathlon NSW Board: Future Operating Model (FOM)

The Triathlon NSW (TNSW) Board wishes to provide NSW members with information regarding the Future Operating Model (FOM) announced in a Triathlon Australia Member Update on 9 May 2022.

It advised that five State and Territory Associations (STTA) have chosen to align all of their operations under Triathlon Australia from 1 July 2022.  This will include the management of all their staff, financial accounts, their reserves, and decision-making procedures.  The FOM proposal was discussed and considered at length by the TNSW Board, in consultation with TNSW staff, and after careful consideration it was decided to adopt a “wait and see” approach.

The five STTA’s operating under the FOM represent 51.5% of the total membership base (as at 30 April 2022) which affords sufficient representation on which to gauge the progress of the new operating model once it has had sufficient time to develop.   This approach provides the opportunity for the TNSW Board to make an informed, evidence-based decision in the future, that is in the best interests of all stakeholders including our affiliated clubs and members.

TNSW remains focused on continuing to grow and develop the sport in NSW working closely with clubs, delivering services to members, supporting commercial race directors to provide quality events in NSW, offering athlete development and pathway opportunities for aspiring NSW juniors and building the profile and capacity of female participation in triathlon under the direct guidance and control of our CEO and the TNSW Board.

TNSW will continue to work with our STTA counterparts around Australia for the benefit of the broader triathlon community and remain fully engaged and committed to working collaboratively with Triathlon Australia.
