The Armidale Triathlon Club and the wider community lost a great person with the sudden death of Michael Henderson at the Tweed Enduro on 6th March 2021.
Michael was a committee member and stalwart of the Tri Club with his welcoming nature, supportive words, sense of humour and cheeky smile.
He participated in many events and sports over the years: soccer, rugby and even mixed netball.
parkrun was his Saturday morning staple as was Cross Country with the Armidale Athletics Club midweek. He has competed in the Gold Coast Marathon, Sydney Half Marathon and Trail Runs up to 50km.
He loved a challenge and so took up Triathlon. He competed in all distances from club sprints through to Olympic. He also tried his hand at Dirty Tris.
The 70.3 Half Distance was to be his final challenge, at which Tweed was his first and only attempt, unfortunately.
Our sincerest condolences go out to Kate and his children Maddy and Andrew and their extended family.
Michael will be farewelled on Friday 19/3/21 at 10 am. Details available at the following link.
