Congratulations to NSW’s Celia Sullohern on winning the Melbourne Marathon on Sunday.
The 25-year-old from Yamba has proved distance running is her specialty, slashing five minutes off her personal best, crossing the finish line in two hours, 29 minutes, 28 seconds.
The win lifted her overall position in the 2017 Australian rankings to fourth, just behind well-known marathon duo Lisa Weightman and Jess Trengrove followed by Virginia Moloney.
With just three spots available in the women’s marathon at Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games, Sullohern has a big decision to make – distance runner or triathlete?
In only her third competitive triathlon Sullohern took out the Open BCU Coffs Olympic Triathlon and NSW 20-25 Age Group title, and has backed that up with a second place at the 2017 Kingscliff Olympic Triathlon.
For all her efforts, the Clarence Valley Triathlon Club member won the Jetts Fitness Senior Sportsperson of the Month and goes into the running to be named Sportsperson of the Year at the 2017 Clarence Valley Sports Awards in Yamba in November.
