2017 NSW Club Championships

For the first time ever the serene city of Orange in the Central West of NSW will host the 2017 NSW Club Championships.

The annual Club Championships is one of the most keenly anticipated events of the Triathlon calendar with well over 2000 participants from over 50 clubs in NSW taking part in the day.

With club pride on the line, all the triathlon clubs in NSW will head to the beautiful country surrounds of Gosling Creek Reservoir in Orange on Saturday the 18th of March, 2017 to participate or volunteer in a triathlon consisting of a 1km swim, a 30km bike ride and an 8km run.

This event is unique in that athletes compete for their Club rather than as an individual. It rewards both participation and performance and is the highlight event in many club calendars. Every person who races or volunteers earns a point for the club and every point counts.

The course around Gosling Creek Reservoir is entirely new and has been purpose-built by the Orange Council for the event.

For the first time ever, there will also be a Junior Club Championships for ages from 10-11 years and 12-14 years. There will also be a participation event for 7-9 year olds. A point score will operate similar to the all age event with points awarded in each individual year age group, ie, 10yrs, 11yrs, 12yrs, 13yrs, 14yrs.

Triathlon NSW invites all clubs in NSW and ACT to participate in and support this event.

Volunteers:

Volunteers are an essential ingredient in not only making the annual Club Championships the successful event that it is, but in determining how successful your club fares in the Club Championships points tally, with clubs able to earn a minimum of 1 point per volunteer.

Triathletes with a Disability:

Triathletes with a disability are very welcome to participate in the Club Champs. At this stage because of the small number, they will participate in their relative Age Group Category. Because of physical constraints, the course is not suitable for those who would compete in a Wheelchair.

The Winning Clubs will be determined by calculating the sum of all the performance points and participation points scored by members of each club.

Venue of Presentation Night

The presentations and traditional after party will be held at the Orange Ex-Services Club in Anson Street.

Club Prizes

2 Ribble R872 Shimano Ultegra Special Edition bikes, valued at close to $4,000 each, will be given away to participants of the 2017 NSW Club Championships at the presentation night at the Orange Ex-Services Club in Anson Street.
