As a Triathlon Australia sanctioned event, Triathlon Australia Race Competition Rules apply. We strongly encourage all athletes to read the rules and adhere to them. It is the athlete's responsibility to be aware of the rules of the event.

Race Rules Note: Technical Delegate Special Ruling

Competitors aged 14 years who are entered in the Springfield Sprint Duathlon will be exempt from the rule 13.3.C 
This exemption applies only to those athletes who are aged 14 years and entered into the Springfield Sprint Duathlon. This means that athletes who are 14+ may use carbon/composite fibre wheels for this race.

Did you know?

Triathlon Australia’s Race Competition Rules have changed for the 2016/17 season. For all events with a cycling distance up to and including the standard distance, the bicycle draft zone is now a distance of 10m. This now lines our rules up with the ITU rules on drafting distances. Please try to remember this on course at the Greater Springfield Duathlon.

The Queensland Championship are included in the Triathlon Queensland Nissan State Series where you could earn points at races across Queensland an be crowned the Nissan State Series Champion.

Triathlon Queensland State Champions will be presented with a Queensland Championship medal on the day of the event. To be eligible for Queensland Championships you need to hold an active Triathlon Queensland membership prior to the race day and place in your Queensland Championships age category.


Triathlon Australia Age Group ITU World Championship Qualifying Race

The Greater Springfield Duathlon is a Qualifying Race for the 2017 Worlds in Penticton, Canada – FIRST INTERNATIONAL ITU MULTISPORT WORLD CHAMPS - Aquathlon, Duathlon, Long Course and Cross Tri.

Please note as a 17 year old athlete, if you wish to qualify for the Australian World Championships team (full distance category) you may compete in the full distance race but will be ineligible to accrue State Championship points.  This is due to a change in State Championship categories to stay in line with ITU Guidelines.
