Light rain at Lake Kawana didn’t dampen the enthusiasm of all those who turned out in force to compete at the 2022 Queensland Aquathon, which incorporated the Queensland Aquathlon Championships for Triathlon Queensland members.
With the Queensland Aquathlon incorporating not only the Queensland Aquathlon Championships, but also the primary Queensland School Sport regional qualification event along with multiclass, sprint and enticer events, it was a big afternoon of racing across all age groups.
The Queensland Aquathlon title always attracts multisport athletes from across Queensland and it was great to see many athletes looking to capture the State Championship title in their age group which included valuable points for the 2022/23 State Series.
This year saw Bowen Bamford cross the line in first place taking line honors by just 10 seconds in the Sprint Aquathlon which also secured him the State Championship title in the Male 16-17yr age group.
Isla Watson put together an outstanding performance to be the first female across the line in the Sprint Aquathlon claiming the Female16-17yr State Championships title.
Congratulations to the following Triathlon Queensland members who have been crowned 2022 State Champion - Aquathlon.
