With that in mind, we’ve reviewed all aspects of the West Lakes triathlons. With our community’s feedback we’ve made the following changes to make sure your races are safe, fun and fair for everyone.

National Program for South Australia
n a major development for South Australian athletes, Triathlon Australia has commenced recruitment for a National Pathway Lead for South Australia, Victoria, and Tasmania.
Commencing shortly, the new program forms part of Triathlon Australia’s Performance Pathway Strategy as we look towards Brisbane 2032.

Board member nominations open
Triathlon SA is seeking nominations from interested and suitably qualified individuals to fill four (4) elected positions that will become available at the Annual General Meeting (AGM), scheduled to be held on Saturday, 28th August 2021.

January's Glenelg Swim Run Junior Enduro Aquathlon did not disappoint, showcasing some up and coming triathlon talent in South Australia.
Sam Creighton, Henry Pearce, Alice Braithwaite are three names among many South Australian Junior Triathletes who are featuring strongly in our Junior Series.

TriSA Virtual Ride Challenge
Welcome to the Triathlon South Australia Members Virtual ride to Melbourne Challenge.
The concept is simple. Ride a total of 726 kilometres, the distance from Adelaide CBD to Melbourne CBD. Rides can be completed either outdoors or indoors via your favourite virtual partner. Data is synchronised via the use of the free application STRAVA - so you must be both a Strava user and if riding virtually, have your virtual platform linked to your Strava account.

Australian Youth and Junior Triathlon Series attendance
Triathlon South Australia has considered its position around sending a team to Round 1 of the National Junior Series as has been standard practice since 2014 within the context of safety and COVID-19. Triathlon SA has determined that in light of ongoing infection risks, we will not be sending a team to the Super Sprint Race Weekend, held on the weekend of December 13. Should parents and athletes still wish to enter this event, they are free to do so as per the nomination procedure which will be communicated in the coming weeks by Triathlon Australia.

West Lakes Kids Series
Thanks to the generous support of Westfield West Lakes, Triathlon South Australia is proud to bring to you a new kids race series embedded in our Westfield West Lakes Triathlon Series Events. The events will see participants aged 6-10 participate in the sport that we all love in a fun and engaging event that will see the kids swim in the lake for a safe 50m in shallow water, ride on a closed roads circuit and run 400m before finishing through the arch.

Steve McKenna has notched up a lot of South Australian wins since converting from Football only a few years ago. In recent weeks he’s been identified as an athlete of interest by Triathlon Australia’s High-Performance Unit. While the honour is significant, it also represents a sizable shift in focus from long course to the short, punchy style of ITU racing. Fox Creek turns 10 this May
The Tribe Triathlon Club is pleased to announce that the Fox Creek Mountain Bike Duathlon in the Adelaide Hills will be on Sunday 27 May. The event combines a trail run through the forest followed by a mountain bike ride predominantly along single trail, finishing with another forest trail run. To cater for differing experience and fitness levels three different race distances are on offer as well as the option to compete as part of a team.

Race report: 2018 Australian Youth and Junior Triathlon Championships
National championships are always a highlight of the Australian Youth and Junior Racing Calendar, and this year they were again held in Perth. Triathlon SA took a small but talented and determined team of athletes across the bight to take on the best 13 to 19 year old triathletes in the country over a modified race format.
