Athlete Development Program
Triathlon South Australia is proud to announce the new Triathlon Australia Athlete Development Program. In collaboration with Triathlon South Australia (TriSA), Triathlon Victoria (TriVIC) and Triathlon Tasmania (TriTAS) the program is managed by Triathlon Australia's Michelle Hemley.
Michelle’s role is to work with Coaches, Race Directors, Parents and Athletes across all three states to increase opportunities for youth and junior triathletes to be supported in their home training environments and aligned to the Triathlon Australia High Performance Program.
The program is open to athletes 12 to 22 years old and links talented junior and youth South Australian triathletes to educational opportunities with key staff such as National talent ID Coach Brendan Sexton and National Performance Health Lead Paula Charlton. The program is designed to work as a compliment to the core role played by an athlete’s home-coach. The program includes:
- Triathlon Health Performance Series with Tri Australia’s Paula Charlton
We are pleased to be able to confirm the following dates and times for a Triathlon Australia - Health Performance Series focusing on Triathlon Specific Nutrition and Mental Racing Skills.
These sessions will be hosted by Tri Australia’s Performance Health Lead Paula Charlton online and are only for Triathlon Australia State Pathway Athletes, Coaches and Parents in NSW, ACT, WA, SA, TAS, QLD and VIC.
The sessions will have a range of pre-work to be completed by the athletes and their coaches in their daily training environment:
- Monday 20th December 2-3pm
- Wednesday 12th Jan 2-3pm
- Wednesday 19th of Jan 2-3pm
Note – A second three part series will be coordinated by Paula in 2022
- Triathlon Australia Southern States Athlete Pathway Camp
The Southern States of VIC, SA and TAS will be hosting a joint, four-day camp on the 18th-21st of Jan 2022 in South Australia, coordinated by National Talent ID Coach Brendan Sexton with a focus on developing race skills, super sprint capabilities and mixed relay racing.
More info about this very soon and this camp is included as part of the SA – JDP Program with no additional travel costs for SA based athletes. We are looking forward to brining together athletes from across the three states to develop skills, friendships and educational learnings.

- National Mixed Relay Championships – Werribee South VIC 29th – 30th Jan, 2022
- National Sprint Championship’s - Devonport TAS 26th – 27th Feb, 2022
- National Super sprint Championships – Runaway Bay QLD 11-13th April 2022
