Chief Executive Officer - Anne Gripper
Anne joined Triathlon Australia as CEO in September 2010. Anne’s extensive experience within the Australian sporting industry over the last 14 years has included a number of roles in both the Australian Sports Commission, and the Australian Sports Drug Agency (ASDA).
Anne is widely known for her more recent work at the International Cycling Union (UCI) as Director of the Anti-Doping Foundation.
Anne will provide strong leadership to the national body, and all STTA’s, while overseeing the implementation of the 2010-2015 strategic plan that will guide the organisation towards its vision of becoming a leading triathlon nation.
Anne has a Master of Sport Management (MSA) from the University of Lausanne / International Olympic Committee and a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) from the University of Sydney. Anne has also represented Australia in Triathlon as an Age Group athlete.
Corporate Services Manager - Joelie Chisholm
Joelie commenced with Triathlon Australia in August 2010. Joelie looks after the Accounting and other associated Corporate Services for Triathlon Australia.
Joelie has had over ten years experience as a Finance Director and Controller, she has also had over five years experience being Treasurer of various sporting clubs, and state organisations both in Australia and the UK.
Joelie has represented both Australia and GB in four Age Group World Championships, as well as coaching beginner triathletes.
Membership and Participation Manager - Alex Fehon
Alex joined Triathlon Australia as Age Group Development Manager in January 2009. As Membership and Participation Manager, Alex’s role is to increase participation in triathlon by offering welcoming entry points to people of all ages and abilities, to attract new members and providing existing members with a sense that they are being well served and supported by the sport, and to create a strong community of triathletes through the development and support of triathlon clubs.
Alex also manages the various age group world championship teams competing in sprint distance, Olympic distance and long course campaigns. She has a long history with triathlon, competing as an ITU Junior on a NSWIS scholarship for a number of years, before competing as an age group athlete at the 2005 Age Group World Championships.
Alex graduated in 2007 with a BA Sport Management with honours and also has an Advanced Diploma in sports marketing and management. Alex was previously the High Performance Coordinator at Surf Life Saving Australia.
COMMUNICATION AND Project Coordinator - Kate Gallop
Kate joined Triathlon Australia in June 2010 as a volunteer, and now holds a full time position supporting the High Performance programme, and coordinating various office projects.
Kate graduated in 2006 with a BA in Management Studies, and has over 4 year’s experience of working within the sport and events industry in the both the UK and Australia.
Kate is a competitive swimmer and triathlete and active member of the Bondi Running and Triathlon Club (BRAT), and also volunteers her time as a member of the BRAT social committee.
National Performance Director - Michael Flynn
Michael joined Triathlon Australia in January 2009 after working overseas for nearly 5 years as the NPD of Bike NZ and then with the UCI as Manager of their International Development program.
Prior to that he managed the extremely successful HP programs of Cycling Australia during 1997 until the end of 2004 and left cycling as the number 1 ranked nation in the world with cycling’s best result ever at the 2004 Athens Olympics.
Michael will lead and direct the TA HP programs in their quest to become the number 1 nation in the world and continue Australia’s success in a period where the quality of athletes at the top end has significantly improved with many more competitive nations fighting for medals.
His experience in Triathlon ranged from competing in the famed Hawaiin Ironman just to see whether he could do it and then working as President of Triathlon SA for a couple of years.
Michael has a B Ed degree with a major in Physical Education.
National Manager Athlete Development - Craig Redman
Craig commenced his original role of National Development Coach with Triathlon Australia in March 2006.
As the National Manager – Athlete Development, Craig provides leadership and direction for the National Development Program including oversight of the National Talent Academy and management of the National Talent Coaches.
Craig has an outstanding triathlon background and brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the position. Craig holds a Bachelor of Human Movement degree and previously held the position of Head Coach of the Tasmanian Institute of Sport Triathlon EDS program.
Craig has worked for the Australian Sports Commission as a regional coordinator of the Active After-school Communities Program and has been actively involved in the ITU Sport Development program.
As an athlete Craig has won four gold and one silver medal at the ITU World Age Group Triathlon Championships. He also holds a 9h 24min Hawaii Ironman finish. Craig also has extensive experience in race organisation and event management.
NATIONAL MANAGER - COACH DEVELOPMENT - WAYNE GOLDSMITH
Wayne has worked in sport for over 20 years. He was Swimming Australia Ltd's Manager of Sports Science and Sports Medicine from 1993-1998, Triathlon Australia's National Performance Manager 2003-2005 and the Australian Rugby Union's National Manager of High Performance Coach Development and Sports Science 2005-2006.
He has consulted with numerous sporting organisations in Australia and overseas including Tennis Australia, Swimming Australia and Diving Australia and he has worked with several professional sporting teams including the Sydney Roosters (NRL), North Melbourne Kangaroos (AFL) and the Brumbies and Western Force Super Rugby franchises.
Wayne has a strong background in swimming, he has completed several ultra-marathons including the Six Foot Track (three times) and the Brindabella Classic (twice) and grew up in a cycling family (his father and uncle both being professional cyclists).
He is currently completing his PhD on the topic of training, educating and developing sports coaches.
NATIONAL TALENT COACH (NSW/ACT) - KEIRAN BARRY
Keiran Barry has a degree in Exercise Science. He has coached triathlon since 1995 and worked with hundreds of age groupers and long course athletes over this time.
At the elite level, he has coached several athletes to world cup wins and national championships. Keiran was a coach at the 2000 Olympics and 2002 Commonwealth Games and coached Nicole Hackett to a world championship victory in 2000.
Outside of triathlon, he has had a successful business career, owning and running commercial gyms, personal and corporate training businesses.
NATIONAL TALENT COACH (WA/SA) - CHRIS LANG
Chris has had 10 years of technical experience in planning, implementing and monitoring training programs from the swim school level through to mini and junior squads and onto elite and masters competitors. He currently has an involvement with athletes in elite and age group ironman, elite and age group Olympic distance triathlon as well as current state, national and world record holding masters competitors.
Chris has attended ITU World Cup and World Championship Series events as part of the National High Performance program as a personal coach and coached at a regional, state, national and international level with Gold Coast Academy of Sport, Queensland Academy of Sport and Australian Institute of Sport triathlon athletes.
NATIONAL TALENT COACH (VIC/TAS) - JAN REHULA
From 2005 until 2011, Jan has been working as the Head Coach of the Korean Triathlon Federation and under his guidance the Team have become the second best country in Asia.
In 2007, Jan was appointed as the Chairman of the Coaching Committee for the Asian Triathlon Confederation to help the development of triathlon amongst the Asian emerging countries.
Jan has a successful background as a competitive Triathlete, with various podium finished in the 1999 Formula 1 Series, ITU World Cups and the Sydney Olympic Games.
Jan holds Master Degree for teaching English and P.E.
NATIONAL TALENT COACH (QLD/NT) - CRAIG WALTON
Craig started triathlon at the age of 16 after a successful career in the Australian Nutri-Grain Junior Surf Life Saving Ironman Series. At the age of nineteen Craig completed a building apprenticeship in Tasmania and then moved to the Gold Coast to further his career as a professional triathlete.
During Craig's 12 years as a professional athlete he represented his country at a national and Olympic level and won numerous Australian titles in all ITU triathlon distances.
He is Australia's Highest award winning triathlon coach, winning the 2009 Australian Institute of Sport Coach of the Year and Triathlon Australia Coach of the Year. He is the only Australian coach to have coached both Olympic and Commonwealth Games Gold medals. Craig has also successfully coached Australia to four different ITU World Championship medals.
Craig provides Triathlon in Australia with invaluable first hand racing and coaching experience and is ready to pass this onto the youth of our sport.
