2024 Australian Age Group Team Financial Obligations and Travel Packages
Triathlon Australia urges all age group athletes to read the 2024 Australian Age Group Triathlon, Multisport and Long Distance Duathlon Team Selection Policies.
Do I need to pay an application fee when I express my interest in the 2024 Australian Age Group Team?
1. Athletes will pay a $75.00 application fee per each individual distance when notifying Triathlon Australia of their Expression of Interest for 2024 Australian Age Group Triathlon and or Multisport and or Long Distance Duathlon Team selection online.
2. If an athlete is not selected onto the 2024 Australian Age Group Triathlon and or Multisport and or Long Distance Duathlon Team $55.00 of their application fee will be refunded.
3. If an athlete is selected onto the 2024 Australian Age Group Triathlon and or Multisport and or Long Distance Duathlon Team and the athlete declines the position on the 2024 Australian Age Group Team no part of the application fee will be refunded.
4. If an athlete is selected onto the 2024 Australian Age Group Triathlon and or Multisport and or Long Distance Duathlon Team and they accept their position on the team the $75.00 application fee will be deducted from the athletes overall 2024 Australian Age Group Team Athlete Contribution.
5. If the 2024 World Triathlon Age Group Triathlon World Championships (Malaga, Spain) and or the 2024 World Triathlon Age Group Multisport World Championships (Townsville, Australia) and or the 2024 World Triathlon Age Group Long Distance Duathlon World Championships (Zofingen, Switzerland) are cancelled by World Triathlon and or the Local Organising Committee athletes will be refunded the $75.00 per individual application fee made to Triathlon Australia minus the Go Membership processing online fee.
You must be a current Relevant 2023/2024 Triathlon Australia member to apply for the 2024 Australian Age Group Triathlon, Multisport and or Long Distance Duathlon Team. # Relevant Triathlon Australia Membership means a current annual Triathlon Australia membership in the full Standard and or Premium categories but excludes all Social and or Basic membership categories.
What are the approximate financial costs of being selected to the 2024 Australian Age Group Team?
Once an athlete is selected to compete on the 2024 Australian Age Group Team the potential costs involved include:
1. Athletes will be asked to confirm their team selection by completing payment of an Athlete Contribution. The athlete contribution includes the event entry fee (this fee is paid directly to the local event organisers), team manager, team bike mechanic, team doctor, Australian team function, international travel insurance when applicable, GST, and Go Membership processing fee. The athlete contribution ranges from $600 to $1500 depending on the event entry fee set by each local organising committee. Athletes are given approximately 8 weeks to complete this payment to secure their 2024 Australian Age Group Team selection.
2. Athletes who compete in more than one event for example Sprint Distance Triathlon (Draft Legal) and Mixed Team Relay (Draft Legal) events will only pay one Triathlon Australia Athlete Contribution. Athletes will pay the Triathlon Australia Athlete Contribution and then the event entry for the Sprint Distance Triathlon (Draft Legal) and then the entry fee for the Mixed Team Relay (Draft Legal) event entry fee.
3. Athletes will need to purchase an Australian Age Group Team Official Race Uniform. The race uniform is approximately $350. Triathlon Australia does provide many optional uniform items which athletes may purchase from the official uniform shop once selected to the team.
4. Individual Flights/ Travel and Accommodation. Triathlon Australia does work with a preferred travel supplier (Nirvana) which age group athletes may use. Triathlon Australia nominates an Australian Age Group Team Hotel. The Triathlon Australia age group team support staff are based in this hotel throughout the event week. The Australian age group team function is normally held at this hotel during the competition week.
5. Selected athletes must have a current Relevant Triathlon Australia Membership when competing at the 2024 World Triathlon Age Group Triathlon, Multisport and or Long Distance Duathlon World Championships. # Relevant Triathlon Australia Membership means a current annual Triathlon Australia membership in the full Standard and or Premium categories but excludes all Social and or Basic membership categories.
2024 Australian Age Group Team Official Travel Partner Nirvana Europe
Nirvana is the official travel partner to the Triathlon Australia Australian Age Group Triathlon and Multisport Teams. Nirvana will be offering travel packages (flights and accommodation), accommodation packages, airport transfer packages for the 2024 Australian Age Group Triathlon Team (Malaga, Spain) and for the 2024 Australian Age Group Multisport Team (Townsville, Australia).

Nirvana is currently the official travel partner to Triathlon Australia (Australian Age Group World Championships Teams), World Triathlon, Ironman Europe, and Super League Triathlon to name just a few.
Triathlon Australia will nominate a 2024 Australian Age Group Triathlon Team Hotel in both (Malaga, Spain) and a 2024 Australian Age Group Multisport Team Hotel (Townsville, Australia) where the Australian age group team staff will be based during the championships. The Australian Age Group Triathlon and Multisport Team staff will operate throughout the championships providing assistance to all team members including bike mechanic services and team doctor consultations. Team meetings may be held at this hotel throughout the championships.
Nirvana Europe will have a wide variety of accommodation available for 2024 Australian Age Group Triathlon (Malaga, Spain) and Multisport athletes while visiting Townsville, Australia. Nirvana have booked travel and accommodation packages for athletes for several years, and they really think of everything from airport transfers to include bikes, permission to allow bikes in rooms, proximity of accommodation to all official event venues and the provision of early race day breakfasts.
