ABOUT TRIATHLON AUSTRALIA EVENTS
Triathlon Australia as the national sporting organisation responsible for the Triathlon in Australia has a process to ensure that events conducted in Australia are conducted in a safe and fair manner for all participants. Triathlon Australia works closely with event organisers to award National Calendar status to events across Australia.
Events, where possible, are selected to span all states and territories, giving an equal and fair opportunity for members to participate. Event organisers who wish to have their events “sanctioned” by Triathlon Australia are able to do so by submitting their applications through the online sanctioning portal. The selection of events is run via an Expression of Interest process.
One of the benefits of this system will be that event organisers will be able to access Triathlon Australia’s whole of sport insurance scheme. Ultimately it is the event organisers responsibility to ensure they have adequate insurance to cover the needs of the event.
There are number of key documents and processes event organisers need to be aware of.
EVENT OPERATIONS MANUAL
The Triathlon Australia Event Operations Manual (EOM) is to provide assistance to event organisers in planning and delivering a multi sports event to a high standard. The EOM will assist event organisers to strive for best practice in the planning and delivery of events. It will continue to evolve as our sport evolves, and with consideration of feedback from stakeholders.

HOW DO I GET MY EVENT ON THE NATIONAL CALENDAR?
Event organisers who wish to host a National Calendar race must submit an expression of interest (EOI) against the key response criteria as outlined in the EOI submission guidelines. Triathlon Australia will call for Expressions of Interest each year.
