As announced in March, Triathlon NSW Executive Director, Phil Dally will leave the organisation in July to relocate to New Zealand with his wife Eleanor. Phil gave significant notice that he was not going to renew his contract, to give the Board an appropriate time frame to allow for a search for his replacement.
That search is now complete, and the Board of Triathlon NSW is pleased to announce the appointment of Adam Wicks to take on the role of Executive Director. Adam joins Triathlon NSW from Touch Football Australia where he is currently Business Development Manager. Adam also comes with experience leading a state based sporting organisation as he was previously Executive Director of Gymnastics NT.
The Board selected Adam from a long and highly competitive list of applicants, due to his strong commitment to sport development. Adam’s focus is on growing and diversifying participation and membership, supporting clubs, and using sport to create communities where people feel they belong. He demonstrates a strong fit with the proud values of our sport.
Speaking on his appointment, Adam said he looked forward to leading the organisation, with the support of the Board, for the betterment of the sport. He continued, “I am looking forward to working closely with triathlon clubs, the NSW Government and other key stakeholders to grow the sport and reach its potential”.
Adam brings experience in setting strategic direction and innovation in program delivery along with financial management and accounting skills. He holds a Masters of Sports Management from the University of Technology Sydney (UTS) and a Bachelor degree in Maths and Finance. He will take up the role in mid July.
The Board is very grateful to Phil for his excellent stewardship of the organisation, and his generosity in continuing for a period to provide a comprehensive handover to Adam. The Board recognises Phil’s substantial influence on our sport during his six years in the role, with particular highlights being the development of Paratriathlon events in Australia and significant improvements in the risk and financial management of the organisation.
The Board warmly welcomes Adam to Triathlon NSW, and looks forward to working closely with him as he leads the organisation into the future.
