Battle of the big three in Sydney Triathlon Premier League – but beware the Polar Bear coming out of hibernation.

On paper, it appears to be a battle of the big three Clubs to determine this season’s Sydney Triathlon Premier League Champions 

All eyes and our full attention now turns to the final round – the Triathlon NSW Club Champs which features a huge (and potentially game changing) DOUBLE POINTS on offer!

It’s the Hills Red Army in the drivers seat and it’s there’s to lose at this point. No strangers to the podium, the mighty Hills Red Army have taken out the Sydney Premier League in ICL02 and have been ‘bridesmaid’ a few times as well.

With names like McEwan, Sendt and Tallis on the start line, they will be a strong team, but their numbers are well short of the glory days of 2016, 2017 and 2018 and they’d want a few more entered before race day to ensure success is an option.

One thing is for sure. If they turn up big in numbers, they are nearly unbeatable.  

The Hills Red Army know that the Warringah Waves will more then likely Max Out at the TNSW Club Champs. They have big numbers already confirmed to toe the start line and inside sources suggests there are quite a few more still yet to enter. They maxed out the last few years, and the expectation is that this year will be no different.

And whilst the Cronulla Sharks have a slightly smaller crew coming, they have talent all over the park, and history has shown they will come close to maxing out, particularly with a late surge of entrants.

The Red Army have a few points up their sleeve, holding onto a 17 point lead over the Waves and 14 points over the Sharks, but complacency is a coach killer and if they rest on their laurels, they’ll be run down on the final match day for sure.  

 The true dark horse in this competition, however, is the Brighton Polar Bears. The Polar Bears have been hibernating for the past few years, but this club, which is one of Sydney and NSW’s oldest, has literally come out of hibernation this season and has shocked everyone with their superb season. They are coming to Club Champs in big numbers, making their intentions known both in Division 4 and the Sydney Triathlon Premier League.

 Over the past few months, the Brighton Polar Bears athletes have been showing up, winning NSW Individual State Champions and ticking over some big numbers in the Interclub League rounds. They have almost their entire club attending and racing. Despite the size and bulk of a Polar Bear, they are excellent swimmers and are formidable hunters. Will an upset occur in this epic conclusion to the 2022/23 Sydney Triathlon Premier League?
