If you’re thinking about doing the bcu Coffs TRI next March, now is the time to enter. Early bird pricing ends this Friday, November 25.
The annual bcu Coffs Tri is being held for the fifth time on 4th - 5th March 2017. The weekend of events includes races for children aged six and up as well as an ‘enticer’ triathlon for those new to the sport, and the headline Standard distance event for individuals and teams.
The event is just over three months away and is a great goal to work towards over the silly season.
Event Manager Alison Fidge said, “Summer is the ideal time for training with light mornings and evenings. The water is warm for swimming, both in the ocean and the pool and Coffs has some fantastic cycle ways – both off and on-road as well as an abundance of picturesque running trails.”
Alison continues, “It is also a great opportunity for local businesses to get behind the event and challenge other businesses. The RETRO Teams Cup is a teams challenge new to the 2017 event with cash and other great prizes up for grabs in the Male, Female and Mixed categories.”
Ages fourteen and over are eligible for the teams event and event organisers encourage families, friends and work colleagues to get together and enter a team.
"If you’re new to the sport of triathlon, being part of a team is a great way of testing the waters,” said Alison.
The Standard Distance Triathlon (1.5k/40km/10km) is a World Championship Qualifying event as well as the NSW State Championship event and is expected to attract professional and age group athletes from all over Australia.
Event Director, Sinclair Black said, “There’s nothing like competing in your home town and Coffs is the ideal location for a major triathlon event. The swim is held in our beautiful, protected harbour, the cycle is on closed roads and the run is a flat course around the picturesque Jetty foreshores.”
