As part of the Regional Junior Development Program (RJDP), Triathlon Queensland and the RJDP clubs and their club-based junior athletes collaborate to deliver development and engagement opportunities for athletes within the RJDP regions. The development activities include competition days and clinics aimed to include training opportunities, education, networking and racing experience for junior athletes and coaches within the region. |
Many Queensland clubs provide junior training environments, including weekly training and access to Triathlon Australia Accredited coaches.

Triathlon Queensland selects a Triathlon Queensland State Team to support Queensland athlete development and representation at national and international triathlon events. The team is selected for a period of the specified season, in accordance with the Triathlon Queensland Selection Policy. The Triathlon Queensland State Team program is designed to facilitate the exposure of young athletes to the triathlon racing environment including racing in the Australian Youth Junior U23 Triathlon Series. The program is outlined as such to replicate the requirements of elite racing to prepare them for the demands of the sport at that level, such as competition and travel and to increase the athletes' knowledge in areas such as goal setting, communication with stakeholders and season planning. 2022-2023 TQ State Team Selection Policy

Provide junior and development Triathletes and Paratriathletes with the foundation to maximise their enjoyment and potential in the sport over time and prepare talented athletes for the high performance pathway. Athletes and coaches have access to a variety of professional development and funding opportunities. To support Junior and Under 23 athletes to assist them in achieving athletic performance and development outcomes consistent with the overall vision and strategic objectives of both TQ and the athlete, an Individual Athlete Support Grant has been developed.
