Triathlon NT, International Performance Systems (IPS) and the Northern Territory Institute of Sport (NTIS) deliver a FREE Community Sport Skills Program.
This program is based upon the Australian Sports Commission’s Physical Literacy Framework and is the only program of this type running in the Northern Territory.
The Mov3 sports skills program is a fundamental motor skills program. Guidance is provided to develop the child’s competency in fundamental movements and underpinning physical qualities, running technique, swimming skills, bike riding skills, as well as the ability to pass, track, catch, strike and kick a ball. Delivery of the program is consistent with creating a positive developmental experience that encourages effort, persistence, enjoyment, satisfaction, prolonged engagement with sport and, critically, enhanced self-confidence within and outside of the sporting domain.
A lot of people ask, “What does it lead to?”
What each participant gets out of the program is up to them and their family. The Mov3 program provides opportunities for all in the community to be active. It also provides the foundation skills for every child engaged in any sport including Rugby Union, Swimming, Rugby League, Athletics, Basketball, Cricket, Softball, Netball, AFL, Touch Football, any form of Cycling and Triathlon. Extension into the Academy program activities is also individualised.
