Age Group Team Financial Obligations and Travel Packages

1. Athletes will pay a $25.00 application fee per each individual event/ discipline when notifying AusTriathlon of their Expression of Interest for the Australian Age Group Teams selection online. For example, athletes who would like to apply for more than one event e.g., Aquathlon and Cross Triathlon will complete two separate online applications with a separate $25.00 payment for each individual event.

2. If an athlete is not selected onto the Australian Age Group Team in the relevant event/ discipline for which they had applied, $15.00 of their application fee will be refunded. If the athlete was unsuccessful in more than one discipline/ event the athlete will receive $15.00 of each individual ($25.00) application fee made to AusTriathlon.

3. If an athlete is selected to the Australian Age Group Team and the athlete declines the position on the team in one or more events/ disciplines no part of the application fee will be refunded.

4. If an athlete is selected onto the Australian Age Group Team and they accept their position on the team the $25.00 application fee (minus the GO Membership Online Processing fee $1.25) will be deducted from the athletes overall Australian Age Group Team Athlete Services Contribution. If an athlete has been selected in more than one event/ discipline each individual application fee of $25.00 (minus the GO Membership Online Processing Fee $1.25) will be deducted from the athletes overall Australian Age Group Team Athlete Services Contribution.

5. If the World Triathlon Age Group World Championships are cancelled by World Triathlon and or the Local Organising Committee athletes will be refunded their $25.00 per individual application fee to AusTriathlon (minus the GO Membership Online Processing Fee $1.25).

6. If AusTriathlon at its discretion does not select an Australian Age Group Team, athletes who have applied for this team will be refunded their $25.00 per individual application fee to AusTriathlon (minus the GO Membership Online Processing Fee $1.25).

You must be a current Relevant AusTriathlon member to apply for the Australian Age Group Team. Relevant AusTriathlon Membership means a current annual AusTriathlon membership in the full Standard and or Premium categories but excludes all Social and or Basic membership categories.

Once an athlete is selected to compete on the Australian Age Group Team, there are several potential costs to consider. These costs vary depending on the event and destination.

1. AusTriathlon Athlete Services Contribution

Selected athletes must confirm their team place by paying the AusTriathlon Athlete Services Contribution.

This contribution may include:

• Team management support

• Australian team function

• International travel insurance

• GST

• Go Membership online processing fee

Services provided may vary depending on the event destination and the number of selected athletes. The AusTriathlon Athlete Services Contribution can range from $800 to $1000 (includes access to international travel insurance – Travel Summary of Cover Brochure) for an international World Championships.

The exact contribution amount will be outlined in detail to selected athletes at the time of selection to the Australian Age Group Team. Athletes are typically provided 6–8 weeks to complete payment to secure their team selection.

2. World Triathlon Event Entry Fee/s

Once all athletes have completed payment of the Athlete Services Contribution, they will receive a link to register for their event via the World Triathlon official entry platform. Event entries are completed and paid for individually by each athlete directly on the World Triathlon event entry platform.

Please note World Triathlon has not announced the 2026 event entry fee for the 2026 World Triathlon Age Group T100 Triathlon World Championships (Lusail, Qatar). For planning purposes, the 2025 World Triathlon Age Group T100 Triathlon event entry fee was $595 US + 5% online processing fee.

3. Australian Age Group Team Official Scody Uniform

All selected athletes must purchase official Australian Age Group Team Scody uniforms. The following uniform items are compulsory uniform items to purchase when selected to the Australian Age Group Team:

a) Scody Australian Age Group Team Race Competition Uniform. Race uniforms will be worn while racing in your individual event at the World Triathlon Age Group World Championships. Athletes can choose the most appropriate race competition uniform for their individual event and individual choice from the four SCODY Australian Age Group Team race competition uniform options. Race competition uniform prices range from $190 for a female swimsuit, $250 sleeveless tri-suit and or tri-singlet and tri-shorts to $350 for a 3/4 sleeved tri-suit.

b) Scody Australian Age Group Team Official Event Function Uniforms. Official event function uniforms will be worn during official functions before, during and after the World Triathlon Age Group World Championships including the Parade of Nations, Opening Ceremony, Medal Dais, Media Commitments, Australian Age Group Team Function etc. Athletes may choose a polo t-shirt option $70 and or a run t-shirt option $65.

2025 Australian Age Group Team members (Pontevedra, Wollongong, Lusail) may wear your 2025 Australian Age Group Team Race Competition Uniform at all 2026 Australian Age Group World Championships (Pontevedra, Abu Dhabi, Zofingen, Lusail).

2027 Australian Age Group Team members (Edmonton, Hamburg, Lusail) may wear your 2027 Australian Age Group Team Race Competition Uniform at all 2028 World Triathlon Age Group World Championships (Tauranga, Multisport Venue TBC, Lusail).

4. Individual Flights/Travel and Accommodation

Flights, accommodation, and general travel costs are the responsibility of each individual selected athlete. AusTriathlon works with a preferred travel supplier Nirvana. Athletes may book any accommodation and or travel which suits your specific individual needs.

5. AusTriathlon Standard and or Premium Membership

Selected athletes must have a current Relevant AusTriathlon Membership when competing at the World Triathlon Age Group World Championships. # Relevant AusTriathlon Membership means a current annual AusTriathlon membership in the full Standard and or Premium categories but excludes all Social and or Basic membership categories.

Nirvana Europe has a wide variety of accommodation options available for Australian Age Group Team members. Nirvana has booked travel and accommodation packages for athletes for several years and they think of everything from airport transfers to include bikes, permission to allow bikes in rooms, proximity of accommodation to all official event venues and the provision of early race day breakfasts.

When should I arrive at the World Triathlon Age Group World Championships?

When planning travel to a World Triathlon Age Group World Championships, AusTriathlon recommends that athletes arrive with sufficient time to attend all required pre-race activities. These may include race registration, athlete briefings, course familiarisation, and any official pre-event commitments.

Athletes are strongly encouraged to allow additional time for potential travel disruptions, such as flight delays or delayed or misplaced luggage.

As a general guideline, AusTriathlon recommends arriving at least four (4) days prior to your individual race day (for example, the Standard Distance Triathlon).

Arriving early will help ensure athletes are well prepared, fully acclimatised, and able to meet all event requirements before competition.

2026 Australian Age Group Triathlon Team (Pontevedra, Spain – On Sale Now)

Due to the limited availability of accommodation in Pontevedra for the 2026 World Triathlon Age Group Triathlon World Championships, AusTriathlon will not be designating an official Australian Age Group Team hotel for this event.

Australian Age Group Team members are free to arrange accommodation independently. The Australian Age Group Team Manager will be based at the race registration area and will be available to support all team members, regardless of their chosen accommodation.

Nirvana Europe is offering Australian Age Group Team members the opportunity to secure accommodation in advance via a refundable deposit. This allows athletes to lock in accommodation now, with the assurance that if they are not selected for the team following selections on the 25th of May 2026, their accommodation deposit will be fully refunded.

Accommodation options in Pontevedra are extremely limited. As availability allows, Nirvana Europe will offer accommodation in Pontevedra and surrounding areas to ensure Australian Age Group Team athletes have suitable, fit-for-purpose accommodation options for the September 2026 event.
