Aussies Set for Sprint Showdown at World Triathlon Cup Tongyeong

12 Nov 2025

Australia’s elite triathletes are set to line up this Saturday, 15 November, at the World Triathlon Cup Tongyeong in South Korea — the final sprint World Cup of the 2025 season.

The 750m swim, 20km bike and 5km run course in the coastal city is renowned for its testing climbs and tactical racing, providing one last opportunity for athletes to finish the year on a high.

Brandon Copeland will be aiming for a strong finish to the year ending a six-year World Cup podium drought with bronze in Chengdu earlier this season. He’s joined by Lachlan Jones, one of Australia’s rising stars targeting Los Angeles 2028. Jones impressed across the Asian and Oceania circuits this year and will be chasing valuable world ranking points.

Brayden Mercer and Logan Campbell, both stepping up from the U23 competition in Wollongong, continue their development at World Cup level and will be looking to translate experience into results.

Fresh from claiming the U23 World Championship gold in Wollongong, Richelle Hill joins the Australian women’s squad. Hill’s composure and pace under pressure make her one to watch against an international field stacked with experience.

Kira Hedgeland, a multiple World Cup top 10 finisher, brings experience and consistency, while Charlotte Derbyshire and Ellie Hoitink round out the team — both eager to cap off their seasons with strong performances.
