Become a Coach: Play a Meaningful Role in Someone’s Triathlon Journey
Coaches sit at the heart of triathlon. They’re the steady voice on the pool deck, the motivator on the track, the problem‑solver on long rides, and the person who helps athletes discover what they’re truly capable of.
If you’ve ever supported a training buddy, guided a junior athlete, or found yourself naturally offering advice to others in your club, coaching might be your next step.
AusTriathlon describes coaching as a “rich and rewarding experience helping others develop and achieve their goals,” with coaches playing an important role in the landscape of the sport. Whether you’re passionate about developing beginners, supporting juniors, or helping age‑group athletes chase new milestones, becoming an accredited coach allows you to make a lasting impact on your triathlon community. And in 2026, NSW has several opportunities for you to get started.

How the Coaching Courses Work
Each coaching accreditation includes two key components:
1. Online Learning Modules
Before attending your in‑person session, you’ll complete online coursework that introduces the foundations of coaching, athlete safety, communication, and training principles. This flexible format allows you to learn at your own pace.
2. Face-to-Face Workshops (In‑Person)
Once your online modules are complete, you’ll attend a practical face-to-face workshops. These sessions place you in an active coaching environment with mentor coaches, giving you hands‑on experience and real‑time feedback. This blended model ensures you’re supported, prepared, and confident before stepping into your first coaching role.
