The stunning Island Triathlon from H-Events was the perfect course to create a fast and thrilling State Standard Distance Championship race.
Just a short 700‑metre trip across Newcastle Harbour, Stockton’s relaxed seaside charm made it the perfect backdrop for a weekend of racing as Island Triathlon and the team at H‑Events welcomed athletes from clubs across the State to the 2025/2026 NSW State Standard Distance Triathlon Championships.
A flat, fast course and a vibrant coastal atmosphere enticed both seasoned Standard‑distance specialists, while also drawing a wave of first‑timers eager to test themselves over the iconic format. With calm conditions early and a lively crowd lining the foreshore, the stage was set for a memorable Championship showdown.
Stockton’s smooth roads rewarded power and precision on the bike, while the coastal run course delivered both speed and spectacle as athletes chased State glory on the flat, fast course.
A huge congratulations to all athletes who toed the line across the weekend. The club spirit was unmistakable – Newcastle and Maitland kits were out in force – and once again the race atmosphere reflected everything we love about the sport.
