Do I need to be a certain age to compete? World Triathlon age group eligibility for racing at the 2027 World Triathlon Age Group Triathlon World Championships is determined based on an athlete’s age on the 31st of December 2027.
Athletes must be 15 years old as of the 31st of December 2027 to compete in the 2027 World Triathlon Age Group Mixed Team Relay (Draft Legal) World Championships.
Athletes must be 16 years old as of the 31st of December 2027 to compete in the 2027 World Triathlon Age Group Sprint Distance Triathlon (Draft Legal) World Championships.
Athletes must be 18 years old as of the 31st of December 2027 to compete in the 2027 World Triathlon Age Group Standard Distance Triathlon World Championships and the 2027 World Triathlon Age Group Standard Distance Aquabike World Championships.
2027 Australian Age Group Triathlon Team Expression of Interest Applications will not be accepted under any circumstances for age group athletes who are 90 years old or above as at the 31st of December 2027.

Athletes who would like to be selected for the 2027 World Triathlon Age Group Mixed Team Relay (Draft Legal) World Championships event must complete 2027 Australian Age Group Sprint Distance Triathlon Team National Selection Events and/or the 2027 Australian Age Group Sprint Distance Triathlon National Championships.
World Triathlon Race Competition Rules stipulate that AusTriathlon may nominate teams each comprised of 2 males and 2 females in each category of the 2027 World Triathlon Age Group Mixed Team Relay (Draft Legal) World Championships. Categories are established considering the addition of the ages (at 31st of December of the year of the competition) of the 4 members of the team and will be as the following: 60-79 (X60), 80-119 (X80), 120-159 (X120), 160-199 (X160), 200-239 (X200), 240-279 (X240), 280-319 (X280), 320+ (X320).
Whilst the World Triathlon Race Competition Rules do not set a limit on the number of teams which may be selected in each category, the number of teams selected will be at the discretion of the AusTriathlon National Age Group Manager (ATNAGM).
