The NSW Triathlon initiative, funded by the NSW Office of Sport, has made great progress with the Finish Lines Not Finish Times program. Aimed at empowering more women to engage in triathlon, this initiative shifts the focus from competition to personal achievement and enjoyment, creating an inclusive environment for women of all ages and skill levels.
The success of the program, both this year and in previous years, has been due to the NSW Triathlon Club community – with the enthusiastic participation of women in each club (though we cannot underestimate the number of supportive men in these clubs either 😀) acting as mentors and role models, along with the strong presence of female coaches across NSW also playing a role.
When asked what they most loved about the program, women overwhelmingly referenced the supportive environment and camaraderie, which helped squash those nerves and build confidence. The smiles and excitement showcased at every finish line testimony to what each had achieved.
The program also highlights the importance of volunteering, with dedicated volunteers from various clubs ensuring smooth events and encouraging women to participate.
Congratulations to the clubs who have completed their programs! We’re excited for the upcoming events and continued success.
NSW Triathlon is proud to facilitate this program and thrilled with the progress made so far. The Finish Lines Not Finish Times initiative showcases the power of community and the positive impact sports can have on individuals’ lives. As the program continues, NSW Triathlon aims to inspire even more women to join the NSW triathlon community and make this the start of their tri journey.
