For over 35 years, Illawarra Triathlon Club (ITC) has been the heart of triathlon in the Wollongong and Port Kembla region. Founded in 1988, and as with all NSW Triathlon Clubs, run entirely by volunteers, ITC has been instrumental in creating a community where athletes of all ages and abilities can come together to train and race.
Whether supporting new athletes chasing their first finish line – something ITC has embraced as a club regularly running initiatives including Finish Lines Not Finish Times, through to providing a network around athletes chasing their next PB – ITC offers a welcoming environment and a tri-season calendar packed with opportunities to hone skills with club racing which is open to all club members as well as welcoming to guests from other clubs and the broader community.
But it’s not just about racing. ITC champions a healthy lifestyle, lifelong friendships, and family involvement, knowing connection matters just as much as competition; encouraging club members to train and socialise together, building bonds and friendships.
With a stunning ocean-front course, starting on the beach; inclusive training programs, and affordable membership options, ITC continues to shape and grow the sport in the Illawarra region. Their mission is simple: create a fun, safe, and rewarding triathlon experience for everyone.
So if you’re in Wollongong or Port Kembla and looking for a club that feels like home, Illawarra Triathlon Club is ready to welcome you – and as the home club for the Wollongong World Championships 2025 – the world!
