Tri-Activ8 Crowned 2026 North Queensland Club Champions at Record-Breaking Airlie Beach Triathlon

The 26th edition of the Annual Airlie Beach Triathlon delivered a spectacular weekend of racing, community spirit and championship competition, with Tri-Activ8 crowned the 2026 North Queensland Club Champions following a standout performance.

Held in the heart of the Whitsundays, the event attracted more than 520 competitors, making it one of the largest editions in the event’s history. Athletes travelled from across North Queensland and throughout Australia to compete not only for North Queensland Club Championship honours, but also lured by the Standard Distance World Qualifier for the 2027 Australian Age Group Triathlon Team event status.

Competitors were treated to perfect racing conditions across the weekend, with calm waters, sunshine and mild winter temperatures showcasing the Whitsundays at its very best. Set against one of Queensland’s most stunning destinations, the event once again highlighted why the Airlie Beach Triathlon remains a favourite on the Australian multisport calendar.

The battle for the 2026 North Queensland Club Championship was fiercely contested, with clubs earning points through both participation and race performances. Every athlete played a role in their club’s success, creating close competition throughout the standings and a fantastic atmosphere across the weekend.

After tallying the results, Tri-Activ8 claimed the North Queensland Club Championship title, delivering a strong all-round performance across the event. Townsville Triathlon Club, the defending 2025 champions, finished a close second, while Mackay Triathlon Club secured third place to complete the podium.
